KARACHI, March
20: Police failed to arrest two suspected dacoits, on Tuesday,
accomplices of a detained suspect of Monday's incident in the
PECHS area, in which two children were shot dead when police
opened fire at a car in which three bandits held a judge's
family hostage.
Sources claimed that the alleged bandits were illegal
immigrants, belonging to Burma. They were not affiliated with
any political party or ethnic group.
A senior police official said the police raided several
localities in the city, including Lines Area. He said they had
picked up several alleged criminals and hoped that the
suspects would soon be arrested.
Meanwhile, an FIR 130/2001 under section 7B of the
Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 319/34 of the PPC, was registered
against the police party of the Ferozabad and Brigade police
stations which took part in the shooting. Another FIR for the
arrest of the suspected dacoits was registered by the police.
No arrest of the police officials involved in the FIR 130/2001
had so far taken place, said a police official. |
