KARACHI: The
lawyers in all district and sessions courts and subordinate
courts observed strike on the call of Karachi Bar Association
on Tuesday.
The KBA had given the call to protest against the brutal
killing of two innocent children of Additional District and
Sessions Judge Rashida Asad by the police on Monday. Members
of lawyers' community refrained from appearing in courts,
gathered in the City Courts and demanded immediate arrest of
the responsible police officials and high-level inquiry into
the incident. There was no proceeding in any case in City and
Malir courts. However, no untoward incident was reported in or
around any court. A state of normalcy was witnessed in the
Sindh High Court as the SHC Bar Association had not given
strike call and all the benches heard
cases as usual. Meanwhile, General Secretary of Sindh People's
Legal Aid Committee (SPLAC) Syed Bahadur Ali Naqvi has also
condemned the incident. In a statement he demanded inquiry
into the incident by an SHC judge. |
