KARACHI, March
19: The legal community has deplored the killing of two
children of Rashida Asad, addition district and sessions
judge, and described it as a failure of law and order under
the military regime.
Condemning the barbaric attack by bandits, they said they were
shocked to note that law-enforcing agencies, though present on
the spot, had failed to take timely action against the
culprits to save the lives of the innocent children.
"This certainly reflects on the miserable state of law
and order in the city where the crime rate has gone out of
proportions," they said.
They said that it was all the more a matter of grave concern
to them because such incidents were taking place under the
military regime.
They also demanded prompt legal action against the culprits,
including police officers, if found involved in the incident.
The statement was signed by Abdul Haleem Pirzada, the
President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Rashid A.
Razvi, the President of the Sindh High Court Bar Association,
Nadeem Azhar Siddiqui, the Honorary General-Secretary of the
SHCBA, Mohammed Sadiq Hidayatullah and Mehmoodul Hasan, the
President and the Secretary, respectively, of the Karachi Bar
Association, and Mustafa Lakhani, Khalid Hameed and Fareed
Ahmed A. Dayo.
Political parties also condemned the tragic incident and
demanded action against those responsible for it.
The chief of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Karachi, Naimatullah Khan,
deplored the incident and demanded of the government to take
punitive action against those responsible for the killing.
He deplored the failure of the government and local
administration in providing security to the people and also
criticized the attitude of the police.
The Jamaat leader visited the residence of the grieved family
to express sympathy and support. |
