KARACHI: The
lawyers' fraternity and three bar bodies in the city have
condemned the killing of two innocent children of a woman
judge and demanded a high-level judicial inquiry into the
incident. The office-bearers of Sindh Bar Council (SBC), Sindh
High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) and Karachi Bar Association
(KBA) demanded prompt legal action against the culprits and
the responsible police officials and gave a strike call for
Tuesday.
Vice Chairman Mustafa Lakhani and members Ismaeel Padhyar,
Abrar Hasan, Muhammad Sadique, Yaseen Azad and Sathi Ishaque,
in a joint statement, said that police not only opened fire on
the official vehicle of Additional District and Sessions
Judge, Karachi West, Rashida Asad but also desisted from
chasing the culprits.
The SHCBA office-bearers and leaders, in a joint statement,
said, "The most barbaric and cruel incident certainly
reflects the miserable state of law and order in the city
where crime rate has gone out of proportion."
Secretary General of KBA, Mehmoodul Hasan demanded
registration of a double murder case against responsible
police officials. He said the police could have fired on the
tyres of the car and blocked its way by parking their mobile
van on the road. He demanded immediate suspension of the SHO
Ferozabad and institution of judicial inquiry into the
incident. Meanwhile, the news sent a wave of unrest amongst
lawyers and they came out of the courts as a result there was
no substantial proceeding before any court in the City Court
and SHC buildings. |
